I was diagnosed with CML in 2002 and went on 400 mg Gleevec soon after. I had a good response. In less than 2 years I was PCR negative. Then I went positive again a couple years later, Gleevec increased to 600 mg for about a year and a half. After a couple PCR negative tests, Gleevec was decreased to 400 mg a day and so far I am still PCR negative. The other health issues (back problems and sleep apnea but those are not the ones I am wondering about). I am stage 4 renal disease and my kidney function has slowly gotten worse since I have been on Gleevec. I have been somewhat anemic since being on Gleevec. I also have coronary artery disease with ectasia...some severe, but the cardioligist is reluctant to put in any stents because the normal thing to do is go on Plavix for a long time to keep clots from forming in the stent. I have read where Gleevec can have a drug interaction with Plavix (I was on Plavix when I went out of CML remission then went off Plavix). I fatigue easily (exercising only caused progressively worse fatigue), get shortness of breath, legs and joints hurt, easily get arm, hand and leg cramps and leg cramps at night. Valium and a heating pad at night have helped. Has anyone else seen or experienced a connection between CML/Gleevec/cororary artery disease/increasing renal function degradation?
